Besides the eleven faculties, the University has 11 Centers. Following are mandates and activities of each center:
EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH CENTER: (1) on-farm training for students, (2) providing experimental site for staff and students, (3) contractual research for outside customers, (4) training on extension methodology, and (5) providing veterinary services and artificial insemination for swine and cattle.
FOREIGN LANGUAGES CENTER: (1) train and grant English certificates, (2) train grant TOEFL certificates and (3) provide special short English and Vietnamese language courses tailoring to the needs of individuals and small groups.
COMPUTER CENTER: (1) train computer skills for students from all faculties, (2) train and grant certificates in office computer and computer programming, (3) research on software applied for agriculture, and (4) form the database for agriculture and extension service.
ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT CENTER: (1) research on types of agricultural environmental degradation and pollution and control measures, (2) research on agricultural waste management, (3) research on environmental impact of toxicants or pollutants, (4) write Environmental Impact Assessment Report, (5) analyze air, water, soil, plant and other types of samples for environmental or biological purposes.
CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS AND EXPERIMENT CENTER: (1) analyze several parameters (pesticide residues, heavy metals, amino acids, vitamins, mycotoxins, histamin, antibiotics, toxicities etc.) using gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, microtox system, (2) animal and plant diagnosis using PCR, (3) apply several plant, animal and microbial biotechnology.
BIOTECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH CENTER: Activities are focused on (1) Genetic engineering; (2) Application of molecular genetics for plant and animal breeding, (3) Vegetable and animal tissue culture, (4) Microbial biotechnology, (5) Biotechnological application for plant protection, (6) Enzyme technology, etc.
FRUIT AND VEGETABLE PROCESSING RESEARCH CENTER: Research on : (1) Fruit
processing, (2) Vegetable processing, (3) Products development.
RESEARCH AND APPLICATION OF CADASTRAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
CENTER: Activities are focused on (1) Mapping, (2) Soil Analysis, (3) Soil
classification and, (4) Land use.
WOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER: Activities are focused on Research on wood material and fibre crops, (2) Evaluating, testing and defining name, (3) Testing in small scale production, (4) Collaborating with domestic and foreign institutions for research on wood technology, (5) Training for raising wood technology level for manufacturers.
INDUSTRIAL CROPS CENTER: Activities are focused on (1) Dedicating to research on crops for export including coffee, cocoa, cashew, black pepper, and grain legume farming; (2) Increasing cooperation with enterprises and foreign institutions to improve seed yield and quality; (3) Application of hightech on increasing crop, quality and technical transfer; (4) Seed science laboratory for seed certification, seed germination test, seed gene bank, seed supply.
CONTINUING EDUCATION AND JOB SERVICE CENTER: Activities are focused on (1)
Continuing education, preparing for university entrance examinations, (2)
Job service for the UAF graduates.
