RESEARCH

Research fund of the UAF is from the central and provincial governments, and generously supported by international and non-governmental organizations. The specific research interests  include:

Agronomy

- Selection and adaptation of improved paddy and upland rice varieties from IRRI, corn varieties, soybean, mungbean, peanut, vegetable, sweet potatoes, and cassava.
- Selection of potential varieties of industrial crops: sugar cane, coffee, cocoa, and rubber.
- Study on pests and diseases of rice, vegetables, tobacco, coffee, rubber and fruit trees.
- Study on water and soil management.
- Farming systems in Southeastern Vietnam.
- Socio-economic impacts of agrochemical use on some vegetable production areas of Ho Chi Minh City
- Study on pesticide residues in agricultural products, soils and water.
Animal science and veterinary medicine
- Research on adaptability of imported breeds of swine, dairy cattle, and poultry... in South Vietnam.
- Research on nutrition of dairy cattle, swine, and poultry.
- Research on epidemiological maps of contagious diseases of livestock in South Vietnam.
- Research on intensifying livestock and fuel production in Vietnam by making better use of local resources.
- Research on common diseases of cattle, swine and poultry,
- Research on antibiotics residue, hormone  in meat, milk and eggs.
Forestry
- Forest management in upland and wetland areas,
- Siviculture measures to improve productivity of forest,
- Social forestry approach in South Vietnam and agroforestry,
- Fast grow species and utilization.
- Wood seasoning and preservation.
Fishery
- Establishing baseline data to serve for sustainable development of aquaculture and aquatic resources management.
- Developing appropriate technologies for small-scale developments in different ecological zones in the region.
- Developing models of community management of aquatic resources of water bodies.
- Improving fish seed quality.
Agricultural engineering
- Research on soil preparation for rice, maize, sugar cane  and pineapple production.
- Research on rice harvester, thresher, grain dryer, and post-harvest technology.
Agricultural  economics
- Research on economic efficiency of different farming systems, upland farming systems and integrated systems of home garden, fish culture and livestock productions in South Vietnam.
- Study on the peri-urban vegetable production in Ho Chi Minh City.
Food Technology
- Research on agricultural products and food processing and preservation such as meat, eggs, milk, fishes, cereal grains, legumes, fruit and vegetable.
- Quality control of agricultural products and food.
Science
- Research on applying computer to improving teaching programes for basic subjects
- Cooperating with faculties to help students do graduation subjects.
Environment
- Research on estimating the hygiene of agricultural produce and food.
- Research on treating Industrial – Agricultural Residue with Chemical, Physical, or Biological Methods.
Foreign languages
- Research on education, graduation and training for the English language.
